Mandevilla (Dipladenia) need more nutrients and water during the growth period. Therefore, if the plants are not growing well during the growth period, the compound fertilizer of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium can be appropriately topdressed to promote plant growth and flowering. Before flowering, reduce the use of nitrogen fertilizer and add the proportion of phosphorus fertilizer to promote flowering and ensure the quality of flowers.

Apply a slow release fertilizer once a month from spring to fall, and apply a liquid flowering fertilizer once a week to promote flowering during full bloom. But the amount of nitrogen fertilizer should be controlled in order to avoid excessive vegetative growth and reproductive growth impact of the reduction in flowering.
Use a “bloom booster” fertilizer every other week according to label directions for loads of flowers all summer. Using a high nitrogen fertilizer will result in plenty of green growth, but fewer flowers (It also attracts aphids).
Some articles suggest using 10-20-10 fertilizer to fertilize mandevilla, But it is difficult to find a fertilizer labeled 10-20-10 like that.
- So, a slow-release fertilizer can be used for mandevilla (such as: Osmocote 14-14-14 slow release fertilizer, Nutricote…) for mandevilla. Apply this fertilizer in spring and summer every two weeks.
- Apply mandevilla phosphate (P2O5 > 16%) fertilizer once a month.

Time not to fertilize mandevilla
- Mandevillas are inactive during the winter so you should never fertilize them during this time. You should fertilize the mandevilla during its growing season, spring and summer.
- You should stop fertilizing in the fall, when the weather gets cold and your mandevillas are inactive. If you continue to fertilize during the winter, it will cause your plants to grow new, possibly affected by the cold.
Fertilizer for mandevilla cuttings
when propagating mandevilla by cuttings. After about a month, the mandevilla will develop roots. At this point, I transplant cuttings into small pots.
One month later, I fertilized the mandevilla cuttings. I use 30-9-9 NPK fertilizer (At this point, a high nitrogen formula will help plants grow faster). I use about 3-4 fertilizer seeds for each 10cm diameter pot.

Or you can use a slow-release fertilizer, such as: Osmocote 14-14-14 Slow Release Fertilizer. About 8-10 fertilizer seeds for each 10cm diameter pot.
